Day 1: Arrival in Guilin
Day 2: Guilin/ Longsheng/ Sanjiang
visit terraced paddy fields in Longsheng and Yao, Zhuang villages there.
Stay at Sanjiang.
Day 3: Sanjiang / Zhaoxing
Visit Diping roofed-bridge after three hours¡¯ drive from Sanjiang in the morning. Visit the famous five drum towers at Zhaoxing (the largest Dong people¡¯s village in China, there are over 4000 people of 400 families there) Stay at wooden hostel.
Day 4: Zhaoxing / Xiaohuang
Take a bus to Xiaohuang, a remote but beautiful Dong village in this part of Guizhou. Under the drum tower we will appreciate Dong people¡¯s chorus. Stay at the local village committee's hostel or the farmers' private house in the village.
Day 5: Xiaohuang / Zhanli
Zhanli, a village which is considered as an outstanding village for birth control
(each family has only a boy and a girl, it is said that one or two women in the village keep the secret herb recipe to the choice of the couple to expect a son or daughter).
The village is just beautiful that has attracted many painters to put the mirage to their art. Stay at the farmer¡¯s house in the village.
Day 6: Zhanli / Fuzhong / Liujia
Trek from Zhanli to Liujia, we will pass by Fuzhong Miao people¡®s village, then transfer to a boat to Guping. Hike for another two hours to Liujia, this day we will see many traditional drum towers in the middle of each Dong village we pass by. These drum towers are always built in different shape and size just to embody their individual feeling and meaning.
Stay in the village.
Day 7: Liujia / Gaodiao
From Liujia village to Gaodiao village (Miao). Today we will leave Dong village for Miao village by hitting walking stick on the steep road to the hill top where we will see the Miao people, men still keep hair long and have it twisted on their head as Indian Sheik people do.
Stay in the Miao village.
Day 8: Gaodiao / Guping / Congjiang
Trek to Guping then transfer again to a wooden boat from Sizhai village to Congjiang.
Stay in Congjiang.
Day 9: Congjiang / Rongjiang / Kaili
visit Datang Miao village (short skirt Miao) during the itinerary. Stay in Kaili.
Day 10: Kaili / Paiyang / Maliao
Take a bus to Paiyang Trek from Paiyang to Maliao, hiking in this part of the mountain, we will see quite big villages on hillside, water mills turning day and night to grind crop, water wheel, big or small, raising water from the river to feed the fields. People are nice, they will wave to you as they see you smile at them even they are working in the field.
Miao people special food will be served, Shaman is happy to be invited to join the
dinner while he or she can tell interesting story about Miao people¡¯s culture and
history. Stay in the village.
Day 11: Maliao / Kaijue / Xijiang
Trek from Maliao to Xijiang Miao village (the biggest Miao village in the world,
over 1200 families there) Stay in the village.
Day 12: Xijiang / Dawushao / Nanhua / Kaili
Take a bus to Bailian village trek to Baidi, Dawushao (Miao) then enjoy Miao people¡¯s welcome ceremony , singing and dancing; drive back to Kaili. Stay in Kaili.
Day 13: Kaili / Guiyang/ Guilin
Take a bus to Guiyang in the morning. Fly to Guilin or other place
