Ancestral Halls in Southeast Guizhou

No.1 Sanmentang Village(Family Liu's Ancestral Hall)
It was built in 1738(in Qing Dynasty) firstly, and fixed in 1933 by Family Liu, all the members donated money on it. It was designed by the artist Wang Zehuan(from Hunan province),and completed by the architect Lee Yingfang(from Jingzhou, Hunan province) in two years.

The Closed Window means children of this family must keep everything outside the window, trying to comfort the heart, and study harder inside only, whether in frozen weather or in good weather.   

Nine Two on the western clock means  children of this family must do everything in advance, 2 minutes at least. Don't be late!



The Riped Balsam Pears (the seeds are sweet, although the skin is very bitter) mean children of this family will enjoy their success and good future after a long time of hard study indoors.


A bat above the window means to open the window and hug good lucks when the children  of the family pass through college entrance examinations after a long time of hard study, since  the bat is Bian Fu in Chinese, while the Fu of Bianfu  has a same pronunciation to Good Luck(福) in Chinese.
 




Penglai Island of  Taoist Immotal,  means children of this family will have  a paradisiacal  life after a long time of hard study.



No.2: Sanmentang Village(Ancestral Hall of Family Wang, who came from Taiyuan, Shanxi Province )
It was built in 1908(in Qing Dynasty).


 

The White Chinese Cabbage beneath the roof means this family is of incorruption, clean, and nobody commits crimes.  



No.3 Baishi Township (Family Yang's Ancestral Hall)
It was built in 1797(Qing Dynasty), and damaged in Cultural Revolution. It was fixed by Family Yang in 1991, spending 70,000Yuan, and completed on Feb.11,1992.

 


      

 

        



No.4: Xinzhou Township  (Familyshu's Ancestral Hall)
It was built in 1876(Qing Dynasty), and fixed in 1991.



        

 

 

No.5: Xinzhou Township(Family Wu's Ancestral Hall)
It was built in 1746, damaged in 1884 because of wars. It was rebuilt in 1938, damaged again by Cultural Revolution in 1966, and fixed again in 1997.





No.6: Xinzhou Township( Family Song's Ancestral Hall)
It was built in 1947, and fixed in 1999.
