Kaili is the capital city of the Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Southeastern Guizhou, and also the base of southeast Guizhou's ethnic culture tour.You have the opportunity to visit the three Miao villages in Kaili. When you visit these four Miao villages, you will find the differences between them and learn the history, culture and folk customs of their villages.The highlights of the tour is that you can learn how to make the art of batik and make paper in Shiqiao village.

It takes 2h to Kaili, on the way to Kaili you will visit Shiqiao and Matang.

Kaili is the capital city of the Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Southeast Guizhou, and also the base of southeast Guizhou's ethnic culture tour. Today’s first stop is Shiqiao Miao village. Shiqiao Miao village is famous for its old technology of papermaking. The ancient traditional methods of production method can be traced back to the Tang dynasty. You can learn how to make paper in local family. After lunch continue drive to Matang village, where you can see Gejia group, who are not listed into 55 minority groups in China yet.

The Gejia people of Matang adore the bow and the arrow. As their legend goes, the ancestors of the Gejia people was hero who could shoot down the 9 suns from the sky with his arrows, and left one sun staying in the sky.
You will appreciate the traditional Gejia batik in the village, and learn the art of batik. In the evening drive to hotel in Wudong.

Wudong is a Miao village located on Mountain Leigongshan, a national park with more than 1,800 herb species and some other wild animals. The village is 1,200m high above sea level, with rich resource of spring water, therefore you can drink some water when you are taking a shower.

There are amazing terraced rice fields around Wudong and tea plantation.

There are some secrets worth to explore in Wudong if your time permits.

Day 2 Wudong/Kaili/Guiyang (L)
In the morning pay leisure visit to explore Miao's history and culture in Langde Upper Miao Village in the morning and visit Datang Miao Village in the afternoon. Langde is a village of Long Skirt Miao, we can experience the Miao welcome ceremony in Langde today. This village is considered to be the live museum of Miao Culture. Datang Miao Village is a Short Skirt Miao village, it is another branch of Miao live for hundreds years. Women in Datang are well known for their beautiful short skirts and hairstyle, they have worn a kind of traditional short skirt for 500 years. Another highlight in this village is the granary built over a pond with the multi-function of fire-proofing, rat-proofing and ant-proofing. After Datang visit, we drive back to Guiyang. The tour ends.
